Hard week's end

Well, not an entirely difficult week--some things are looking brighter. (Cough cough preschool cough)
Here's Reese waking from her nap yesterday. Here's more proof that she is her father's daughter! Not really one to hop out of bed, eager to tackle the world. She needs to be awoken and approached somewhat, um, delicately. For example, she probably did not appreciate waking up to a flashing camera yesterday. Reese, your paparazzi awaits! Oh wait, it's just Mommy, again.

The reality of it can be a bit overwhelming, really. Lately, she's been a great napper and sleeper, but the past two nights, she's woken up once or twice, and I had to go in and soothe her back to sleep. I asked what the problem was this morning, and she replied, "It's been a hard week." I can't be completely certain, but I am guessing she's referring to the stock market. Sheesh. We all hear you on that one, girlfriend. Here's her reaction to the downward spiral the Dow took yesterday:

Also, notice the new Tinkerbell blankie she and Aunt Kathy made together--she loves it! Matter of fact, she curled right up under it and drifted off for her nap today. And I am excited, because it will be perfect for her to snuggle with all winter. We are BIG fans of all things Peter Pan and Tinkerbell around here, in case you were wondering.

Another bright spot in our week was dinner last night with Neal, Monique, Melissa, Janna and three-week-old Baby Simone. So much fun! Reese was smitten with her immediately and asked (nonstop) to hold her off the bat. Melissa and Janna were sports and let her "hold" Simone with some supervision. Simone is an absolute beauty, as you can see.

I love this picture--they are really checking each other out! Friends from the start.

Baby Simone says, "Boo! Gotcha, Reese!"

She is so precious and we loved seeing her, and everyone else. Reese was walking around earlier with her arms crossed across her chest. She told me she was "holding the baby." I asked her if she was "holding" Baby Simone, and she said "Baby Simone and Baby Mehta."

I think I've mentioned we are very much into Halloween at the Bain casa, yes? Check out Reese's fabulous school projects from yesterday. I love the candy corn handprints--too cute! And yes, we have already begun the seasonal clothing options.

Cabbage patch kid dance moves!

She also painted a pumpkin picture red. Cute crafts yesterday!

Mommy gets into variations of the seasonal clothing. Also, wearing orange the day before the big Texas-OU game. Reese was thrilled we were wearing matching shoes. She said, "Our shoes match, the same!" A little redundant but cute nonetheless.

We're heading to the ranch to watch the Red River Shootout tomorrow so I will update in a few days. Have a great weekend and HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!!
