Ghetto princess

Check out this sassy look! Reese put on her flower skirt (as a top), declared "I'm a princess!", twirled around a bit and decided to top it all off with her Cubs cap. Nice. Because no royal ensemble is complete without some piece of sports-themed gear, right?

Lucky me

I'm back from my blogging break!
I had the best time last night--a bunch of my fabulous girlfriends took me out to dinner at Ranch 616. They had a special menu created for the evening and everything. Thanks to Ashley, Monique, Leya, Erin, Liz, Cathleen, and Blair for a wonderful time! I am a dummy and forgot my camera to take pics but someone did have one, so when I figure out whose it was and badger them to email me pics, I will post them....

Living vicariously

Not much is going on with us. It's hot so we are moving kind of slowly this holiday weekend. So the only news I have to post today is that Dad met The Edge, except he kept calling him "Edge." I thought that was kind of fun. He's coming back tomorrow so I need to come up with some interesting stuff of my own to post. :)

Star struck

I'm such a celebrity gossip dork. I will freely admit it.
So, my dad is in Monaco for the Formula One races over the weekend. He called this morning and was all giddy about spending time with one of the drivers--someone Webb. Not sure, but he was very star struck. Then he told me about his dinner company last night:

He sat next to Kate Hudson (who is dating Lance Armstrong) for a 4 hour dinner. My turn to be star struck! He says she is very fun, charming and down to earth. Oh yeah, and pretty.
The dinner went til 12:30 am and then they went to some Indian tycoon's private yacht until 3 am. Why is Dad partying like a rock star?? I reminded him he's a grandpa. All we did last night was watch Backyardigans and eat microwave dinners.

"I'm sick"

Reese has been telling me she's sick, repeatedly. This is how I gauge when she isn't feeling so great--when she feels it enough to tell me. The ER doc told me if she were 4 and having the symptoms she had yesterday, they'd call it asthma. I could save them 2 years and call it that now, but no dice.
She got over her fear of the nebulizer today and has even been brave enough to hold it herself. She's definitely feeling MUCH better today thanks to the steroids and neb treatments. I think we are on the mend!

Update

Dr. Louis just wanted to do a follow-up with Reese. It seems like the almond situation is a very long shot, but to play it safe we are going back next week for a final check with him. It's great to have a very cautious, thorough doc, but I will be glad when we are appointment-free! And no more almonds (or any nuts) until Reese is 4.....

The Case of the Aspirated Almond

Reese, Ma Pam and I spent most of Wednesday shuffling between doctor's offices and the Dell Children's Hospital. Reese has had a cold since the weekend but her breathing became quite labored Tuesday night--I pulled out the nebulizer and luckily, we had some of the Albuterol left to fill it so I gave her a few treatments. I called the doc anyway b/c she was still laboring even after the treatments and we went to see him. He was worried she might have aspirated an almond she was choking on Saturday at the ranch--it would have been stuck in her lung. So off we went to Dell....
We are waiting for the specialist to review the x-rays (the device they put toddlers in for chest x-rays looks like something from a Medieval torture chamber), and in the meantime, Dr. Louis wants to see us again today, so off we go. But I am guessing it is just a follow up and we are doubting that the almond is actually stuck there. Or a fragment of it anyway. So....that's what we've been up to. Fun huh?

Just a dose of cute...

I couldn't resist sharing a picture of Reese in her cute dress and bow. :)

Happy birthday Daddy!

Happy 33rd b-day to David!

When it rains

Apparently this is what happens at the Bain house. But what you don't see is Reese locking Mommy out while she is taking these pictures, while Mommy is wearing her nightie. Luckily I made fast friends with our newish neighbor whom we've never really talked to before and borrowed his phone. Then I sat by the sliding door screaming, laughing and crying while banging on the window to keep Reese's attention so she wouldn't wander off before Ma Pam and Papa got here. Truly certifiable. All before 8:30 a.m.

A Beautiful Day

Reese is always making up these sing-song rambling tunes about "Beauuuuuutiful daaaay," and that is basically what the songs consist of, over and over. And Mother's Day 2008 was indeed a beautiful day.
Here are some pics--Reese and Mommy, the view from the lake house, and Reese running around old-school in her diapers.
Good times all around. She was very sweet, telling me "Happy Moffer's Day Mommy" over and over again. She also told me she loved me several times. So yes, definitely a beautiful day.
