Beautiful birthday girl!

Our precious daughter turns THREE today! I can't believe she's a 3-year-old! Yippee!
To celebrate, we had a birthday bash this past weekend. It was a ball! We had a great time seeing so many fun people--we have such great family and friends--and it seemed like the kids were having a blast. It was pretty hot by the end of it, and I definitely needed some rest the day(s) afterward, but all in all, I'd say: SUCCESS!
(Photography credit goes to Cord Shiflet and Mark Kitchen--thanks SO MUCH y'all!)

Cord caught an overview of the party. We had a big pink princess/castle bounce house, a new playscape (gift from Ma Pam and Papa), a bubble machine, bubble pools, a misting fan and of course, cake! Here, you can see a bit of the bounce castle and some of the guests...

Mark snapped buddies Reese, Kellen and (I think) Emmylou in action, bouncing away!

Reese at the top of her the slide on her new play set (Cord's pic). Wearing a princess crown, natch. Tatum and Kellen waiting their turn behind her!

Sharing the crown with sweet friend Tatum.

A truly happy child!

Daddy and Reese preparing for the big blow-out!

Check out the look of concentration.

Preparing mentally...

Blowing out candles!

Wishes will come true!

Now let's eat it!

I forgot to take a pic of the cake (OOOOPS), so here's a close up...

We have been continuing the celebration by doing a delayed gift unwrap. I highly recommend this approach (which I am guessing most parents opt for after seeing a massive mountain of gifts). Each day, we have opened a gift or two every few hours or so. Reese then plays with the new toys for awhile, Mommy writes appropriate thank you notes, and we are all happy. This way, she opened gifts on the party day, yesterday, and we just finished up opening our last party gift this afternoon. It has been really fun and made all the gifts more special. And the process more sane.
For the rest of the big birth-day, we are going to dance class and then out to the ranch for a very small family dinner and swimming. And then we will have sufficiently celebrated the passing of this milestone--our little girl turning 3!
